Illinois Leadership Center
The Illinois Leadership Center provides students with educational programs to learn leadership skills.
When I began there as a graphic designer they were experimenting with new styles for their visual brand with a one-man marketing team running the show. In my two and a half years there I was promoted to the new role of creative director and was able to not only create all of the digital and print materials for the ILC, but also manage a team of 5 students that brainstormed, budgeted, and carried out marketing campaigns.
The initiatives included:
- Designing and Printing All Marketing Materials
- Designing and Printing All Event Materials
- Coordinating and Staffing All Outreach Events
- Managing Social Media Strategy
- Creating and Implementing a Design System During a Rebrand
- Team Management
- Event Photography
🏆 We reached record numbers of participants in our i-program during my time as the Creative Director.
Responsibilities
Design
As the sole designer for many years, and then manager of a small marketing team, I designed and/or coordinated all the print materials for every single ILC event from 2016-2018. Materials ranged from booklets outlining the annual statistics that were sent out to 5,000 alumni, to teeshirts for giveaways on the quad.
Team Management
I managed a team of 5 students, we called ourselves BAMO which stood for branding, advertising, marketing, and outreach. Our autonomous team had the responsibility of convincing the UIUC alumni, faculty, and students to participate in our programs. From scratch, I developed how the BAMO team operated and together we made schedules/budgets/plans to increase engagement.
Print-Ready Documents
When all materials I designed for events were approved I had to send over the print-ready files. I created and confirmed that all graphics were the correct colors and resolution and coordinated with the vendors.
